vdB 133 & Sh2-106 in Cygnus (Scott Stirling)

vdB 133 & Sh2-106 in Cygnus

vdB 133 is the gray/white reflection nebula in the corner. The interesting red and white object in the middle is an emission nebula and the Ha signal is very strong. I didn’t know what it was at first but a little research on the area turns up Sh2-106. The Hubble has a fantastic image of it: https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hubble/science/snow-angel.html

FSQ data gathered in New Mexico dark skies from April to September, 2017:

R = 15 x 900s
G = 19 x 900s
B = 18 x 900s
H = 17 x 1800s

I love the colors, variety and dynamics in this field of view.

Description: New rev from master synth L and HRGB, re-process, back to full FOV. Disabled chrominance noise reduction in LRGBCombination. Stretched a bit more and a bit noisier but this version is brighter, shows a bit more detail and color nuance.

Deconvolution (using about 80 stars to make a PSF via DynamicPSF) and MultiscaleLinearTransform in linear mode on multiple layers with NR adjusted for each layer, Linear mask option enabled and amplification adjusted, and slight bias increase on layers 2 & 3.

I’m leaving the image at this FOV and north up. I might crop the rough edges.

I will research and find out what the red and white nebulous structure is at the center.

Follow up: that thing is Sh2-106. Added to the title of this image.
