Description

The Cocoon is a very small emission nebula in Cygnus, about 4000 ly away. A close-in image reveals it has similarities with M 20, the Triffid; it has red emission, blue reflection, and dark lanes. Alas, the Star 71 is not the scope to show those details; much more aperature would be required. But the intent of this composition is to show Cocoon with Barnard 168, which surrounds it and strikes off away from the nebula. I wanted to capture those two objects in a sea of colorful stars. Need to work on bringing out more of the dark nebula structure.
