Description

Orion Nebula Wide FOV - Test #1 with the Sky Watcher Mount

This is my first guided image testing the Sky Watcher All View mount. I used the Canon T7i DSLR with as Rokinon 85 mm lens. After testing indoors it was time to take the gear out under the stars to see if I could align the mount and if the tracking would be adequate for imaging. I used the 85 mm lens to make it easy on myself. Even though the mount is an Alt/Az I thought it tracked well (you may have a different opinion). I shot 21 light images, picking for my first test probably the brightest patch of the winter sky, M42. The settings were ISO 800, shutter speed of 30 seconds, and f/2.8. I then shot 10 Darks, 10 Flats, and 10 Dark Flats and then called it a night.

I used DSS and Star Tool for most of the processing finishing up with Canon Digital Photo Professional. I cropped the image to correct for the stacking errors but I still seem to see more stacking errors. I would appreciate your honest input; I am old man and can take it. My next step would be to go to the Rokinon 300 mm lens if I ever get another clear sky night.
