Description

Extreme wide-field projection of the milky-way here on the Southern hemisphere. Just outside Christchurch on a fairly dark place at the CAS observatory. I'm just here for a year and didn't bring my scope equipment, but I must say... pretty happy with what I could get here with just a tripod. The orion- and horsehead-nebulae can be seen on the left (upside down for us in the Northern hemisphere) and the Carina nebula on the right. Also very visible are the small- and large Magellan clouds which I can see with the naked eye. The sky here has been imprinted in my brain forever.
