NGC4244, know by several names including the Silver Needle Galaxy, is an edge-on spiral galaxy located in the direction of the Constellation Canes Venatici at a distance of 14 Million Light-Years. It is a member of the relatively nearby M94 Group of galaxies and has a magnitude of approximately 10.2. Clumps of stars are very evident along the disk of the galaxy, and it appears to have a strongly rotating massive nuclear stellar cluster at its core, appearing as a small point-like object. NGC4244 is approximately 46,000 light-years in diameter. Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
