Description

Lagoon Nebula

Messier 8

In the constellation Sagittarius, one finds one of the most beautiful objects

of the night sky. This giant interstellar cloud was discovered by

Giovanni Battista Hodierna about the year 1654.

Situated about 5200 light-years from Earth, the view of this nebula

through a binocular, presents only a light and oval spot,

highlighting only the open cluster, superimposed on cloud cover.

Although it appears gray to the human eye, in photographs of great exhibition,

the characteristic Rosacea color, presents us this majestic object.

The most brilliant region of the nebula was discovered by John Herschel, and

was known as the Hourglass Nebula, a region with intense formation

stellar. Much of the brightness of the nebula is due to 9Sagittarii star,

which is near the bright region.

It is classified as an emission nebula, where ionized gases, in particular

the hydrogen, emits radiation mainly at the wavelength

in the visible red light range.

Inside PixInsight from #WarrenKeller, I created the Luminance

combining my captures in Hubble Pallette and LRGB, which created,

without any doubt, my best picture of Deep Sky. This project

cost me about 12 hours of processing beyond 20 hours of data captured.
