Description

This image of the California Nebula (NGC1499) was generated using the Pixinsight NBRGB combination script. I'm still learning my way through this technique following the InsidePixInsight book by Warren Keller. Red was augmented by Halpha data with a scale factor of 0.75. Blue was augmented by Halpha data with a scale factor of 0.2 (to simulate Hbeta data). After generating the combined image, I performed some additional post-processing to dial down the red and bring out the nebulocity using Curves transformation, HDR Multiscale tranformation, and a Color Saturation adjustment.

RGB data: OSC RGB data taken on January 28, 2019 with WO GT81 at F4.7 (382 mm focal length) using Flat6A II field flattener/0.8x reducer, Orion Skyglow Imaging Filter, and full spectrum modified Nikon D5300.
