Description

NGC 3198 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. It is about 47 million light years away. It has apparent dimensions of 7.4 x 2.3 arc minutes and a visual brightness of 10.3 magnitude.

Date: Mar 2012 Processing Feb 2019

Location: New Ringgold PA

Optics: Hyperion 12.5 inch f/9 2532mm focal length

Mount: Paramount ME

Camera/Filters: Apogee Alta U8300 Camera with LRGB Baader filters and ONAG guider

Exposure: Luminance: 28x10 minutes 2x2, R:18x8 min G:23x6 min B:31x8 min, all binned 3x3. The total time was 13.5 hours with 100 subs at average 486 sec

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing using Photoshop.
