Description

NGC 6188 (RCW 108) is an emission nebula in the southern constellation Ara. It's sometimes called the Firebird or Rim Nebula.

This is the first image taken this season in Queenstown, New Zealand and was used to test my equipment. I used the Rough Polar Alignment on the Paramount MyT mount rather than prepare a full pointing model and doing a precise alignment. (It took several hours to work out how to explain to the mount that it was in the Southern Hemisphere, more required than just correctly entering the coordinates.) No flat frames seemed to be needed as Pixinsight's ABE took care of the little vignetting that occurred.

Images were captured using the SkyX Pro and were processed in Pixinsight: ABE, Deconvolution, Mure Denoise. When RGB master was linear used Background Neutralization and Photometric Colour Correction. Stretched master was processed with TGV Denoise and tweaked with Curves, and Saturation adjustments before final tweaks using the Apple Mac OS photo editor.
