Description

NGC5139, Omega Centauri, is visible only in the Southern skies and is arguably the most outstanding globular cluster observable from Earth. This picture was imaged from my balcony in Queenstown, New Zealand and is a stack of 174 images:

L 82 30s, plus 30 5s to prevent the centre being overexposed and to allow for the constrained dynamic range of the 12 bit camera chip.

R 22 60s, G 20 60s & B 20 60s for a total integration time of 105 minutes.

Luminance subs with different exposures combined with Pixinsight's High Dynamic Range Composition process after ABE and DBE to remove gradients.

Processing in Pixinsight: ABE, DBE, Deconvolution, Mure Denoise, and BN and Photometric Colour Calibration after RGB Combination while linear. Stretching with AutoHistogram, followed by a light deconvolution and TGV Denoise. Final tweaks using Mac OS 10.14 Photos editor.
