Description

Absolutely incredible, this is the fastest and best way I have found to remove stars from an image. This test is a 100% crop from my recent image of the IC1848 (Soul Nebula)

It took about 5 min to process the whole image (I did not time it exactly) using the default setting of 64. To put this in perspective, for the full image above that I processed before, I removed the stars from each filter image by hand in Photoshop using the spot healing brush, which took about 5 hours per filter. The result is great, but it takes a great deal of time.

StarNet++ will revolutionize my processing, thank you so much Nikita for making this available and making it so simple to use.

In order to get the file ready for StarNet++ as this is a mono image, in PixInsight I used HistogramTransformation to make it non-linear then converted it to RGB colour then saved it as a 16bit tif.

The test image above is as it comes out of StarNet++ (the rightside bit)

For more information on StarNet++ see Nikita's post on this program.

Please note I am not connected in anyway to StarNet or to Nikita.
