Description

I did not intend on imaging this object tonight, When I went outside I had planed on trying to image a comet. I checked a star chart to see where the comet was located. I then out my red dot finder on that spot in the sky and I took a test image. No comet. I checked my sky chart again to make sure I understood where the comet was located. I then put my red dot finder on the spot where I thought the comet should be and took another test image. Still no comet. I was about to freeze and it was getting hard to use my hands. It was 28 degrees outside. I didn't want to waste a very rare clear night chasing a comet that I might not find. So I decided to pick another target. I looked around and noticed Perseus. I thought of NGC 1499 the California Nebula. I had not imaged this object with my William Optics ZenithStar 61 Refractor. So I decided that I would like to see how my new little scope does on this object. I did get an image and I'm pleased with the image. Please enjoy my most recent image of NGC 1499.
