Description

Image contains the Dark Doodad ,a long strip of dust set against a Milky Way starfield ,and the globular cluster NGC 4372, both in the southern constellation Musca.

Image consists of subframes taken through LRGB filters with a total integration time of 171 minutes -- L 30x2 min; R 13x3min; G 12x3min; and B 12x3 min. Images taken during three nights Feb 25 & 28 and March 3 2019.

Description: With more experience processing and the considerable advances in WBPP to normalize sky gradients, GeneralizedHyperbolicStretch and the RC Astro BlurXterminator and NoiseXterminator plug-ins, its now worth reprocessing some old data.

I rather liked this Southern Hemisphere dark nebula colorfully called the Dark Doodad and its position relative to the globular cluster NGC 4372 enough to give its processing another try. Many of the original data limitations remain -- less than 3 hours integration, lack of an automatic focuser, and the halos and reflection interference that the first generation ZWO filters can produce with very bright stars -- but the result is an improvement on the original, which also suffered from poor deconvolution on which someone had commented.
