Description

This is an expanded close up of the nucleus of NGC1097 showing the star forming ring that has recently been estimated to contain a 140M solar mass black hole.

This is in calibrated Sloan colors where the orange in the center corresponds to stars and the blue green in the ring corresponds to Ha emission.

The original data was at 0.4" per pixel, and this has been resampled in photoshop to 0.1" per pixel and slightly sharpened.
