Description

The Statue of Liberty Nebula (NGC 3576) is located a few thousand light years from the Eta Carina Nebula in the Sagittarius arm of our own Milky Way Galaxy.

A detailed study of NGC 3576, also known as NGC 3582 and NGC 3584, uncovered at least 33 massive stars in the end stages of formation, and the clear presence of the complex carbon molecules known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). PAHs are thought to be created in the cooling gas of star forming regions, and their development in the Sun's formation nebula five billion years ago may have been an important step in the development of life on Earth.

I have been very privileged to receive some mentoring from the great Steve Milne here on Astobin, and he has helped me to take my AP to another level of quality. Since upgrading from my humble Nikon D5100 OSC to my new ASI1600MM-Pro, my knowledge of LRGB & NB imaging have grown significantly. And I have Steve to thank for his patience and wisdom.
