Description

In recent weeks I have had to spend a lot of money! I had to buy a new modified Canon 700D, as well as a STC Duo-narrowband filter, which has enabled me to manage the white LED light pollution better here, although it is still a major struggle.

This special filter enables me to take Ha and OIII both at the same time, which with my weather is a 'must'. That said, I am yet to learn a more effective processing technique, settling for what I always do... But a very kind Astrobin member is helping me with this - how great is that!? The better method will help me to bring out the OIII blues more effectively.

Anyway, I had some trouble and got slightly oval stars - this always happens with my 8" reflector - an unsolvable balance issue it seems, but I managed to adjust the stars a little during processing. I took 35 subs at 8 minutes long, each at ISO 800. It is still a small object within my DSLR's field of view, but I do not want to crop it because of losing the resolution.

I really hope to make the best of this filter in the coming months, and may well re-post this and other objects taken, when I learn this new processing technique. Thanks everyone. Simon
