Description

Since astro-imaging has been clobbered by the very uncooperative weather in Colorado lately, I was motivated to do a little project when I discovered some old film shots in my files. This is a positive color image prepared from a scan of a color negative of Comet Hale-Bopp I took on Fuji ISO 800G in early 1997 from a remote dark site in the mountains west of Denver; the telescope was a 5-inch Takahashi hyperbolic astrograph on an EM 100 mount and the approximately 20 minute exposure was unguided. The scan was processed with Photoshop CC 2018 to yield the uploaded image. This photo has never been published in any manner so I thought it would be worthy of display on Astrobin. Just having the opportunity to observe such a majestic sight in one's lifetime is priceless and having a photographic record is the icing on the cake!
