Description

I never actually had time and weather to get M42 into my collection, and I also wanted to see what the RASA will do with it. Hence I decided to go out in the front of the house on the street (cul de sac, hence not that busy) since the backyard is blocked by freaking pine trees to the south. Had actually neighbors joining me for a little party with some beer while the scope was busy ;-), that was nice! Next step a good set of OIII and SII, maybe I have to wait for the next Winter for that.

Notable item: After several trials I have to admit that the Baader Hα 7nm filter is not the best for the RASA. Waiting for the Highspeed filters!!

Description: VERY weak OIII addition, just got 30 minutes of data. Created a H-HO-O version out of it. Hopefully I can get some more data tonight, clouds just moved in :-(.

Description: 2 nights ago was much better seeing, and I tried out the combo imaging. At the same time I got my additional OIII subframes I took RGGB images with my "old" 183C through the Williams refractor. The wonderful thing: almost same FOV. I cannot guide then though (might need to attach another scope .... maybe ;-)). Took 60 seconds for the OIII and 30 seconds for the RGGB. Combined all images together with the Hα and SII that I already had. I still have to tweak a bit more, but in general I say that this experiment was successful 😊.
