Description

This is NGC 3242 or the Ghost of Jupiter Nebula. It's between 1,400 and 2,500 light years from Earth and is multiple light years across. It is one of my favorite targets because it is eerie green in color and resembles an eyeball. Because it is so much smaller than some of the larger nebulae such as the Orion or the Rosette I imaged it without using my Hyperstar lens (I attached the camera to the back of my SCT telescope). Due to the increased focal length each sub was a 3 minute exposure!
