Description

This object is a group of 5 galaxies located 300 million light-years away in the constellation of Hydra. These are all tiny galaxies in our apparent view, each with a maximum diameter of about 1 minute. The group occupies a space about 2 minutes across.

None of these galaxies have NGC designations. From top to bottom, the 5 galaxies are a lenticular (MCG-1-25-12 / Mag. 14.1), two spirals (MGC 1-25-9 / Mag. 12.8 and MGC 1-25-11 / Mag. 16.4), an eliptical (MGC 1-25-8 / Mag. 13.1 ), and a third spiral (MCG 1-25-10 / Mag. 14.2). Although not readily apparent in my image, other studies have shown that most of these galaxies show evidence of interaction.
