Description

This high-resolution image of the LMC is an eight-frame mosaic. The two previous wider LMC images taken with a 85mm lens and the WO RedCat serve as the reference for registration and gradient removal.

Ver.A (original) has a higher H-alpha weight in the HaRGB composition. This gives more visual impact to the red nebulas, but unfortunately also overpowers the subtle OIII emission in the nebulas. This is a version that more closely resemble an image taken with color slides, and perhaps brings nostalgia to old astrophotographers like me.

Ver.B (final) has lower weights on the H-alpha exposures. It has a better H-alpha-OIII balance. You can see the blue-greenish emission from the OIII in many of the nebulas more clearly.
