Description

This is another test of the Canon EF focuser with 135mm f/2 lens. This shows a section of the Gum nebula including HH46-47 that I imaged recently here:

This image isn't as sharp as my other test image of Eta Carinae from the same night, and I think it is because there is some backlash and slop in the lens drive itself. I expect that automatic focus should take care of it.

This is slightly cropped but no processing other than levels and gradient removal.

29x1m exposures at f/2 with Custom Scientific 10nm Ha filter. Guidescope guided with MetaGuide and dithering.

HH46-47 is located in the two dark fingers of nebulosity just above and left of center.
