Description

This was an interesting area to capture and process. Lots of faint nebulosity, especially in Hα, but the OIII signal was fantastically weak. SII was in between the 2 extremes. I decided to try to bring out some of the fainter structures while still preserving some of the details in the brighter nebulosity - I am not sure how well that succeeded. But while the end result was not quite what I was envisioning as the data was being collected (is it ever? 😀) I am happy with this result, which at least seems to compare reasonably favorably with other examples here on AB.

Not a lot of official info online about this pair either. Apparently located at ~7,000 light years (Spider) and ~10,000 light years (Fly) in the constellation Auriga, they both harbor some active star forming regions.
