Description

This image captures a pair of interacting spiral galaxies located 350 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +73 degrees. NGC 6786 is the bottom galaxy. Each galaxy spans about 1 arc-minute in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 90,000 light years.

This is a small but interesting pair of objects – each galaxy appears to have distorted spiral arms, and each galaxy is hiding behind a foreground Milky Way star. UGC 11415 is hiding behind a large blue star, while NGC 6786 is hiding behind a small yellow star. I don't see a star stream bridging these 2 galaxies - perhaps more integration would reveal it.

There is also an interesting faint galaxy towards the bottom of the image. I could not find a distance estimate for it but it looks to be much further away.
