Description

The Tulip Nebula (Sharpless 2-101) is a popular imaging target, so I thought I would give it a try. Its a magnificent mix of dusty dark nebulae and HII emission nebulae. There are some small reflection nebula scattered about too, such as the two around the two bright blue-white stars near the center of this field.

So much easier to image nebula from a dark sky site than from my suburban backyard. Each 8 minute sub that were stacked produce this image is composed of 241 two second subs that were live-stacked in SharpCap under a very dark sky east of the Cascade Mountain range in Northern Oregon.
