Description

Another try with Jupiter.  This time I did 14 runs of 50s.  I tried a number of different processing schemes including culling the images down to the best 15% of the best looking 8 sequential runs, and increasing percentage of frames and different ways of sorting the best runs.

It seems to me that on this night, with this seeing, mediocre transparency, and at this particular altitude of about 43%, what worked best was using all 14 runs and the best 40% of each run.  So this image represents the roughly the best 14,240 of 35,600.

I tried to keep the saturation and sharpening to the minimum and I think perhaps this image is a bit better than my previous try last week.  I think this is important becasue when I look a the best Jupiter images here on Astrobin, I see smooth and subtle transition of color and detail in the banding.  hopefully I'm getting a little closer.

I am considering moving to a 2.5x Powermate for the next try, I think our seeing here in Arizona will support this and perhaps the extra FL will result in a little more detail?  Who knows for sure but it will be fun to try nevertheless.

I hope you like this latest effort and of course, comments and criticism welcome!  CS and good health!
