Description

The Big Dipper measures about 20 degrees across. The Little Dipper measures a bit smaller, at about 12 degrees across. The Pleiades, which many people mistaken call the Little Dipper, measure even smaller at about 1 degree across. But this Tiny Dipper gets the award are the smallest Dipper asterism, at only about 0.25 degrees across.

This is an asterism, not a cluster. The stars are not related in any way, just a chance optical alignment. The official designation of this asterism is Alessi J23407 +0757. It is located in the constellation of Pisces at a declination of +8 degrees.

This asterism does not make for a fantastic image, but is fun to see in the eyepiece.
