Description

The beautiful NGC 2997 is an almost face-on unbarred spiral galaxy located about 55 million light-years away in the southern constellation of Antlia.
This is a grand-design galaxy with a symmetrical, two-armed form. The arms host a series of dusty knots that are star-forming regions  being generated through gas compression from density wave. At the core, the arms converge to form a circumnuclear ring with symmetrically-placed hot spots containing super star clusters.
Many HII regions can be seen in the arms as well as several far galaxies in the background and through the arms of NGC2997.

I was happy to discover and process this target thanks to the dataset bought from Telescope Live and taken at El Sauce Observatory from March 2021 to January 2022.

Now time to process data acquired from backyard thanks to the more clement meteo this last days! :-)
