Description

In preparation for the (then) upcoming Jupiter - Saturn lineup, I shot the starfield they would be in starting in early December. The area was already low in the west so I was only able to gather about an hour or so each evening before the thicker atmosphere made any further capture useless.

During the conjunction once I had taken adequate high speed capture of the planets themselves (https://www.astrobin.com/kvasjk/B/?nc=user) I connected my DSLR and took a few 1-10" exposures for use in registering the planets to the starfield. PixInsight never seems to let me down because it did this all automatically, though the actual registration of the planetary video captures were manually aligned in photoshop.

Calibration:
- BPP, CC, StarAlign, 2x Drizzle Integration
- Common Crop
- Couple passes of DBE
- LFit R, B to G, RGB Combine and registered to 2x Lum

Processing:
- Gentle pass of Decon on star field
- Rista TGVD, MMT noise reduction
- Masked Stretch
- ACDNR for final NR
- LRGB Combination

DSLR capture:
- Calibrated using Flats, Darks
- Star Align to ASI1600MM data, Integrated
- Used only for alignment of planetary images onto starfield in Photoshop from this point
