Description

The Cave Nebula (Sharpless 2-155) is an ionized H II region. It is a region of new star formation - a ‘stellar nursery’ - in the constellation of Cepheus. Sh2-155 is estimated to be approximately 2,400 light-years from Earth, and spans some 10 light-years.

Data for this object were captured between 7 August and 8 September 2019, from our home observatory in the UK.

Capture details are as follows:

Telescope: Skywatcher Esprit 120

Camera: Moravian G2-8300

Filters: Chroma and Baader

Mount: Mesu 200

Ha: 28 x 1200s

Lum: 24 x 600s

Red: 18 x 600s

Green: 18 x 600s

Blue: 12 x 600s

A total of 21 hours and 20 minutes exposure.
