I started this project in April 2020 and was forced to end it in mid-June. The spring has been very cloudy and rainy and clear nights have been few. My goal was to get 8 hours per filter and in my naive belief that I had plenty of time, I concentrated on one filter at a time. Now, the Triplet is going behind a tree less than half an hour after true darkness and I'm not likely to get enough additional data to really make a difference. As a result I ended up with my goal of 8 hours only in green. But, in an effort to get in at least some of the remaining channels, I have only 70 and 90 minutes each of red and blue.
As a result, I wasn't sure whether I'd be able to cope with the noise appropriately but mure denoise is a marvelous tool! This is a very basic processing.
For each red, green and blue master:
Dynamic Crop
Mure Denoise
Dynamic Background Extraction
For the RGB:
Channel Combination
Photometric Color Calibration
Histogram Transformation
Curves Transformation (saturation)
And that's it. Mure Denoise left the backgrounds looking horrendous which limited the amount of stretching I could do and I didn't feel compelled or capable of doing anything more sophisiticated. Overall, I was pretty happy with the compromise result.
