Description

With my new guiding setup working well I decided to try something that needed long exposures and integration time, especially with an unmodified dSLR. This is my longest shoot so far at almost 7 hours. I faced some new issues shooting at temperatures well below freezing. The first night the mount's battery died early in the cold. The second night the guidescope frosted over. Despite the reduced time I am very happy with the results of about 7 hrs integration time. I'm surprised how well the setup worked the first night in ~15mph wind, I threw out only a few subs total for both nights. Guiding in the wind averaged around 1 arc sec RMS in RA (just using a 1 axis tracker).

This was the first shoot with the William Optics base. It was much nicer and more precise to make adjustments for polar alignment compared to iOptron's base. It was very cold so I didn't spend a lot of time tweaking the alignment but was able to get within 17" according to ASIair's app. This is also my first project using Starnet++ to remove stars. I'll need much more practice processing stars and nebula separate and recombining.
