Description

Another one for the collection. Interesting and well-known periodic comet, also known simply as Comet Faye after its discoverer - Hervé Faye, who discovered it in 1843.

This is called Jupiter's family comet and has a period of 7.52 (or 7.47, according to other sources) years. The current rapprochement took place on September 8, 2021 (perihelion), and it will be in the shortest distance from the Earth on December 5 this year. An interesting fact is that this comet is getting closer and closer to our daytime star, and its perihelion is fairly well defined and is decreasing every period. In 1843 it was 1.8 A.U. and in 2102 it will be only 1.5 A.U.
