Description

Last weekend I went to Grandpré with a dozen other enthusiasts of our local astronomy club. Luck was on our side, as we ended up with two crystal clear nights. Spring time is galaxy season for amateur astronomers. I decided to capture the central part of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster where an arc of galaxies known as Markarian's Chain can be found. Seen here are a collage of the bigger galaxies captured in the images as well as the full field of view (revision).

Exposure time: 8 hours, 20 minutes (100x 300") | Optics: Takahashi ε-180ED f/2.8 | Camera: Nikon D810a (ISO 400) | Acquisition: ZWO ASIair Pro | Mount: Astro-Physics Mach1 GTO | SQM: 21.6 magnitude/arcsec² | Location: Grandpré, France | Date: 2 & 3 April 2022
