Description

Moretus crater near the lunar south pole, a 114-km wide crater almost as large as Hawaii’s large island, with a 2.7 km high central peak, a 5 km high north wall and 6 km high south wall.

This southern limb of the moon is very heavily cratered and includes Moretus, Short, Newton, Klaproth, Gruemberger, Cysatus and Curtis, with the walls of Malapert crater (the Malapert Massif) on the horizon.
