Description

Here's in action one of the night sky discoveries of late 2018, which has been firstly noticed by a japanese astronomer, named Masayuki Iwamoto. A speedy comet which offered a beautiful reward for those who got the chance to peep through their scopes between photo sessions. At the time of my observation, in February, I'd say the magnitude was between 5 and 6, and was brighter than I've hoped it to be. Fortunately, this comet has been spotted at just about the right time, as it won't wave back to us again by 3390.

This animation holds up to 90 frames, each exposed to 30 seconds, and having a total time span of roughly 1h 36m. This zoomed-in section of the sky includes the borders of the Leo constellation, the closest star being X Leo, which helped me track it down. I've always wished to make such an animation, which is inspired by the astrobin community. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
