Description

Here's a zoom-in on an image of Messier 87 that I took last night. This is the galaxy that houses the supermassive black hole that had its photo taken recently.

In my image you can just make out the relativistic jet (at 2:30) streaming away from the accretion disk of the black hole. It is 5000 light years long. You can read more about that here:

One pixel in my image captures 0.73 arcseconds of sky. I think the image of the black hole accretion disk is 40 micro-arcseconds across!
