Description

Fireworks to bring in the new year !

NGC 2070 - The Tarantula Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Data was collected using 1 hour of exposure through each of Ha, OIII and S2 filters (ASI1600mm Pro) using 30 second sub-frames. I probably need to double my total exposure time here (from 3 to 6 hours) to further enhance the delicate shells of hydrogen gas that surround the adjacent small nebula. NGC 2070 is one of the most intense starburst regions known in the local group of galaxies - a star burst being a region of space with prolific star formation. Imaged from home in suburban Boronia, Melbourne, using narrow band filters a couple days shy of this months full moon.
