Description

Jupiter with Ganymede in close proximity.

Had a short period of nice seeing on Easter Saturday morning. The moon has just emerged from behind the planet showing high contrast between western (bright) and eastern (dark) limb. This correlates well with the boundary of icy plains as seen in Starry Night.

8 minute WinJUPOS composite integrating recordings between 2:35 and 2:44 am Canberra time, the image combines 4,175 frames. I've used PhotoShop to overlay Ganymede's position for the middle of the capture (2:39:36 am), removing derotation blur. Rendering is from a single 835 frame stack centering on 2:40:06 am, ie. 30s later.

Conditions deteriorated after 3am with the fog rolling in. I attempted Saturn but could only get 8 minutes of data.
