Description

The M13 project is an experiment for DSO under full moon. This is theoretically equivalent to imaging in highly light polluted area. The power of full moon is destructive to deep sky imager, it wipes out the milky way and almost anything faint in the sky. The uneven illumination as the moon at different distance of the target translates into various gradients in the integrated image. These gradients are exceedingly difficult to remove. Despite various attempts of DBE, reshoot flat for calibration, it remains in substantial amount in the image. This inhibits stretching substantially or difficult to reveal the dimmer object while remaining a reasonable even background.

As mentioned in the earlier M63 project, the rain season is approaching, the weather become increasingly unstable. I am lucky to pump out one more image before the serious rainfalls. Since it is a less serious project, I have invested much less time into the imaging stage. It concludes at the 16 hours mark.
