Description

I was able to work in a few nightscape astrophotography sessions during a trip out west to Arizona and Utah in April . First stop was at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I was blow away by not just how dark the sky was, but how blazingly bright the stars shined. This image was generated on April 22, 2019 from Yavapai Point on the South Rim. The view is to the north looking across the canyon where a few lights can be seen on the North Rim.

Imaged using a Nikon D750 and 14 mm Rokinon lens at F2.8. Exposure was 30 seconds at ISO-25600 for each image. Stacked four images using Starry Nightsky Stacker. Post-processed stacked image using Pixinsight: DBE for gradients, masked stretches using histogram transformation and curves transformation to work the canyon foreground separate from the night sky, and color saturation boost,
