Description

Here is my first ever image of M63, also known as The Sunflower Galaxy. Having never observed M63 I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail I was able to resolve in the galaxy and have found it to be one of my favorite galaxies I've ever imaged. M63 is a spiral galaxy approximately 37 million light years from earth. Unlike more familiar grand design spirals, M63 does not appear to have defined spiral arms when viewed in the visual spectrum which I learned classifies it as a flocculent spiral. In fact, M63 does have two spiral arms but they can only be seen in the infrared spectrum.

I intended to capture a bit more RGB data on this one, however the moon and clouds have prevented it and I couldn't wait any longer to take a stab at processing what I was able to capture.
