Description

Okay, I'm still geeking out on this supernova thing. Here are three images produced from lights that I took of the galaxy M100, for the nights of April 27-29, 2019. You can see that on 4/27 there is nothing to be seen, on 4/28 there appears to be a faint dot and on 4/29 there is "de nova stella": the supernova SN2019ehk. By now, it has faded to the point that it's probably again undetectable by amateur equipment here on earth. I was extraordinarily lucky to happen to be photographing this galaxy when the light from this event first reached the earth.
