Description

This galaxy makes up for its small size by displaying a beautiful tidal interaction with a passing galaxy. Interestingly, that second galaxy can be seen through the main spiral about 300,000 light years behind our view. The tail it produced is a similar size at 280,000 light years. Go to the full resolution view and you can see the interloper as a vertical blob through the spirals.

At only 3.2 arc-minutes in size this is a challenge. If I was starting over I'd probably use less of a stretch to control noise better. The tail is actually pretty bright compared to the say the tail on the Hamburger galaxy.

This is 16 hours total integration time. I used a super luminance, combining the luminance data from the color subs with the luminance to get the most I could out of the data.
