Description

Testing Meade 8" ACF for DSO for the first time. I did not get a proper adaptor for OAG for that time (I did finally figure out it today- done), so no autoguiding, no darks, no flats. The biggest surprise for me (I had no experience with large SC) was the enormous quantity of light that the scope accumulated in 30 sec. only (it is f/10, the reducer is still on the way-I am always cursed with a long delivery time for reducers and flatteners). I used R filter only and one shot only as well. Histogram is almost full with the signal, I imagine that with f/6 I would have A LOT more signal. Some elongation of stars are evident due unguided shot (with focal length of 2032 mm good polar alignment and autoguiding is a MUST), but I cannot see coma on the corners (Advanced Coma Free scope proves to be true). I am impatient to use both reducer and OAG, but I will leave soon for weeks business trip, so the DSO have to wait. The weather is awful again, heavy rains all the week long.
