Description

Messier 13 - The Great Cluster in Hercules

Well the AD250 was a dream to use on this target, due to the shorter nights acquisition time was limited but 2 years to the day that I last captured this target, I have managed to get this image. I'm delighted with it to say the least. It's vastly better compared to my previous attempt and I've even managed to get the tiny galaxy visible that is visually next to it.

Messier 13 was discovered in 1714 by Edmond Halley and is located in the constellation of Hercules. It is a gravitationally bound mass of hundreds of thousands of stars. It is approximately 145 ly across and over 25000 ly away and is visible with small telescopes and binoculars.
