Description

NGC 3718, the warped galaxy on the right is one of Arp's peculiar galaxies. These are normally associated with close galaxy pairs, caused by tidal interactions.

There is also a small group of interacting galaxies to the bottom right.

I've experimented here with different forms of deconvolution in PixInsight

Image A has no deconvolution.

Image B has deconvolution following the technique in the IP4AP tutorial, using the PSF from dynamic PSF tool.

Image C follows the technique recommended by Manuel Jimenez. He takes only the aspec ratio and angle from the dynamic PSF tool, then adjusts the Stdev of the PSF to get the best visual outcome.

Image D follows DetelfHartmann - who deconvolves in non-linear space with a sharpened PSF.

My prefererence is for technique C. There appear to be bright artefacts in Image B, while Image D is noisier at small scales. What do you think?
