Description

Continuing on my quest to capture as many galaxies as possible during galaxy season, I made the Siamese Twins - a pair of merging (or colliding?) galaxies - a top target this spring. I was really happy to get a result like this on this pair under my skies (and really stoked that I was able to capture the faint 'hook' of stars being ripped from NGC 4567 due to the gravitational pull of NGC 4568 - I didn't know whether that was going to end up being too faint). One thing that attracted me to this target was the different dominant colors between two galaxies that otherwise looked very similar, however, the more I look at them, the less similar I think they look. NGC 4568 reminds me a little of M33 or NGC 2403 with a pinwheel of multiple arms, whereas NGC 4567 appears to have two dominant opposing arms.

Just a quick note on the acquisition: Notice the dates? That was every single clear night in April in May. The weather's just been awful here this spring.
