Description

Messier 4 located in one of my favorite parts of the sky within the Ophiucus Cloud complex. I think not too many folks image this alone simply because of all the other very interesting and beautiful objects that are all in close proximity.

This loosely concentrated globular has an estimated age of 12.2 to 13 billion years and lies approximately 7,200 ly away. There is evidence of at least 2 different stellar populations within this cluster which would mean there were multiple cycles of star formation.

Of particular interest to me is that in 2003, a large planet about 2.5 Jupiters in mass was discovered orbiting a binary system containing a white dwarf and a pulsar. One could only imagine the view of this system.

The information above was obtained from messier-objects.com.

Not the easiest to process for some reason. I had some strange issues with calibration files. I went with a bias toward the red because of the general morphology of this area.

Comments and criticism always welcome and Clear Skies to everyone!

Mike
