Description

Jupiter with GRS in transit and two moons, Sat 1 Jun 2019 AEST.

Very brief window of fair seeing saved this session from being a complete write off. Publishing to document continuing disassembly of the Great Red Spot.. more ejected material is seen here on the south eastern edge. The storm has drastically shrank in size over the last two weeks and now sports a thin dark streamer within northern part of its halo.

Meanwhile Io is making a transit immediately north of the NEB outbreak with its shadow ahead in the east. Largest moon Ganymede has nearly completed re-emergence from behind the planet.. despite ordinary seeing albedo detail is detectable on the Jovian facing hemisphere.

I've derotated eight best stacks covering recording period between 10:52 and 11:03 pm Canberra time, giving a total of 5760 frames for this picture. To correct WinJUPOS smearing of Ganymede I've composited a single 80s stack view with a mid-point of 10:58:30 pm (ie. 42 seconds later). Moons are always so challenging to process..
